What types of tracking, such as clickthrough analysis, is available?
|
The profile tracking that can easily be done on a Web site includes:
- Logging which page, or part of a page, was seen by each Web visitor.
- Updating a user's profile with the date (and time) they last visited the site, length of session, number of pages displayed, etc.
- For registered users, pages displayed are associated with the user's profile
- Clickthrough tracking of links to pages on other sites.
This means that real-time rules can be created to recommend certain pages based on a user's profile and pages they have seen during the current session, or seen during previous sessions.
The user profile tracking that can be done using e-mails includes:
- Logging which e-mail was sent, along with the date (or date and time)
- Clickthrough tracking of links clicked on
- Newsletter format preferences (i.e., text or HTML)
Since e-mail tracking uses the same profile database as the Web site, it's easy to use both Web and e-mail activity to target who should see certain messages and tailor those Web and e-mail messages.
