The rules-based targeting capabilities of the e-mail module allow a marketer to send e-mail to segments of the company's market based on profile data.
A few examples of the types of rules-based targeting that are possible include:
- Send a series of e-mail messages to registered Web visitors who saw (or didn't see) one or more particular Web pages.
- Mail to individuals based on whether or not they clicked on a link in an earlier newsletter
- Send event notices to people near the location of the event
- Contact people who have not returned to the site recently.
- Send a gift certificate to loyal customers or visitors.
Of course, any combination of criteria like these can be used to send e-mail to a highly targeted portion of your audience.
